Abstract
This study aims to present an analysis of the conditions of the opposition in Indonesia after the 2019 election, where the condition of the opposition after the presidential election became unbalanced as several opposition parties joined the government camp since the Working Indonesia Coalition was declared the winner. The existence of an imbalance in the number of opposition makes the value of democracy in Indonesia unstable due to the reduced number of critics who will judge the work of the government during their tenure. In addition, the potential imbalance in the process of checks and balances in the distribution of power in the distribution of government power, and the decline in the quality of democracy in Indonesia. Thus this study will explain the current condition of the opposition in Indonesia by comparing the reality conditions with the ideal conditions of democracy and an estimate of how the impact of the maneuvers carried out by various political parties will affect the quality of democracy in Indonesia. The importance of the position of the opposition in the value of democracy makes an important problem that needs attention.
