Abstract

This journal aims to analyze how the defense diplomacy from the joint military exercises between the United States government and Indonesia, namely the Super Garuda Shield held in 2022, reflects the military responses of both countries with a joint training agenda to achieve national interests and commitments to peace through the strengthening of aspects of the military instruments of both nations. Super Garuda Shield 2022 serves as a means for Indonesia and the United States with the aim of enhancing military capabilities in order to carry out defense diplomacy, using the theory of Defense Diplomacy as the foundation of this research. The author attempts to analyze the case in this study with a qualitative method through in-depth literature review. The methodology used in this research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The conclusion of this study is how the Theory of Defense Diplomacy with the main elements of Super Garuda Shield 2022 can detail the indicators and variables that align with the definition of Defense Diplomacy as an academic theory involving two or more countries with specific goals, reaching its meeting point in this research.
