Abstract
Hazardous and Toxic Materials commonly abbreviated as B3 are widely used for company production activities. PT XYZ is one of the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) companies that utilizes B3 to support its activity processes such as cleaning activities in maintenance projects. The storage of B3 materials in this company is still not organized and mixed with the storage of other materials it can cause a risk of work accidents. In addition, the B3 storage area is not equipped with an emergency response system and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for each B3 material. B3 storage areas based on Government Regulation No. 74 of 2001 must be given symbols and labels and equipped with an emergency response system and B3 handling procedures. The purpose of this study is to improve the condition of B3 storage areas by designing B3 storage areas based on the 5S (Seiri, Seiso, Seiton, Sheiketsu, Shitsuke) concept and adjusting storage facilities to the anthropometry of workers. The methods used in this study include identifying B3 materials using the ABC method, 5S analysis of B3 storage areas using the 5W1H (What, Who, Why, When, Where, and How) method, anthropometric analysis of warehouse workers' bodies, and B3 storage area design plans according to applicable standards in Indonesia. The results of the research that has been conducted indicate that the B3 materials stored are dominated by flammable materials, the application of the 5S principle (Seiri, Seiso, Seiton, Sheiketsu, Shitsuke) in the B3 storage area is still lacking, the capacity of the B3 storage area is inadequate and the dimensions of the storage shelves are not ergonomic. Improvements that can be made by arranging B3 storage by applying the 5S principle, redesigning the dimensions of B3 storage shelves based on the anthropometry of warehouse workers, and completing aspects of the B3 storage area design plan according to standards including walls, floors, roofs, lighting systems, ventilation systems, B3 material storage layout, and emergency response systems.
