Abstract
The development of information and communication technology is getting faster day by day, thus forming new media or new media in everyday life. Communication media itself offers a variety of entertainment for us, such as web series. So, the influx of Korean dramas entering Indonesia, with appearances by Korean actresses. Without realizing it, Indonesian people follow the beauty standards there. If someone cannot follow beauty standards, they will be exposed to body shaming. The aim of this research is to determine the audience's reception regarding body shaming in the web series Mother Gajah according to Stuart Hall. This research uses a qualitative approach with the acceptance analysis method by Stuart Hall. The results of this research found that there were eighty informants consisting of 4 men and 4 women, of which five (2 men and 3 women) informants were in hegemonic dominant positions. Meanwhile, 3 informants (2 men and 1 woman) were in negotiating positions. In a dominant hegemonic position, it is true that this is indeed bodyshaming, although not directly. Meanwhile, it was negotiated, confirming that this was indeed dominant, but there was another message conveyed in which Ira changed for the better after the first date incident and not all men looked at the physical, there were also those who looked from the heart. However, in this research there is no contradiction because there is standardization in society, so that when someone does not achieve this standard, they will experience body shaming.
