Abstract
Industrial companies in Indonesia are growing quite rapidly, especially in the chemical sector. The existence of hazardous and toxic chemicals (B3) is something that really needs to be considered, especially in terms of handling and storage. In storing hazardous and toxic chemical products (B3), special attention is needed because they have different characteristics, so the storage location needs to be considered so that the potential for potential hazards can be identified. PT XYZ's approach to managing hazardous and toxic chemicals (B3) involves a comprehensive system that focuses on safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental protection. By implementing advanced safety measures, ongoing training, strict monitoring, and proactive community involvement, companies can effectively mitigate the risks associated with hazardous chemicals and ensure sustainable operations. The process of storing hazardous and toxic materials also requires handling that is in accordance with the type of B3, in this B3 handling process it can be reviewed from the aspects of receiving, storing and shipping B3. The method is integrated by combining the HIRA, FTA, and 6S systems at PT XYZ to achieve a strong and comprehensive approach to managing the storage and handling of hazardous and toxic chemicals (B3). HIRA is used to identify, estimate and assess the potential risk of a threat and then implement actions to manage the risk. The HIRA method obtained seven high- risk B3 chemicals, two medium-risk B3 chemicals and one low-risk B3 chemical. After the highest risk value was obtained, a hazard risk cause analysis was carried out using the FTA approach. This technique is used to identify risk factors that contribute to the occurrence of failures that are generally obtained based on the high-risk category. Finally, the 6S method is used to manage the work area effectively and carry out continuous maintenance at PT XYZ.
