Abstract

The world is currently facing the global challenges, and industries everywhere need to consider the sustainability issues. The building and construction sector contributes significantly to global climate change, accounting for approximately 21 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. If sustainability is a priority to preserve the planet for future generations, then all technologies at every phase of construction shall be activated. (Yazicioglu, E., & Kanoglu, A., 2022). According to Ernest & Young (2014), 73 percent of all capital projects worldwide experience delays. Due to its conservative nature, the construction industry is not ready to adopt new solutions. (Yazicioglu, E., & Kanoglu, A., 2022). On the the other hand, the construction industry is generally known as an industry with low profit margins. (Chandrasekaran, S., Kalidas, S., Nel, G., Parbhoo, P., Mir, M., Rao, A., & Srikanthan, S., 2021). As the nature of the construction industry where revenue is generally determined in the bidding process, the construction industry should focus on the cost savings. (Camci, A., Çimen, Ö., & Gül, S., 2021). Currently, Supply Chain Management is understood to be important in the cost savings process. (A. Papadopoulos, G., Zamer, N., P. Gayialis, S., & P. Tatsiopoulos, I., 2016). For this reason, a research was conducted to assess the potential variables and challenges are faced by national construction companies, especially in Indonesia, in adopting the Supply Chain Management into the Construction Supply Chain, as an effective cost control. The results of a study examining the (8) eight factors influencing the implementation of the Construction Supply Chain (Amade Benedict, 2017) using the SEM PLS method with SmartPLS 4, revealed four factors are categorized as “potential” and other four are “challenges”. Therefore, national construction companies still need to increase their efforts to address these key factors for successful Construction Supply Chain implementation. The results of the fit and model structure tests indicated that the model implemented in this study has valid variables, acceptable reliability, and met convergent validity, but lacks in discriminant validity. The model itself fits or closely matches the empirical data, with the estimated correlation matrix matching the empirical data correlation matrix (SRMR) with a moderate effect (R-square) and moderate predictive relevance (Q2predict). The results form the research show that Supply Chain Financing is a variable that has a direct and significant influence on the success implementation of the Construction Supply Chain in particular, or Supply Chain Management in general and is very relevant to the current literature
