Abstract

This study examines the effects of coach competency and technology adaptability on Data-Driven Coaching and coach performance, both directly and through Data-Driven Coaching as a mediating variable, among swimming coaches in several Indonesian clubs. A quantitative approach using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was applied to questionnaire data from 50 coaches. Coach competency positively and significantly affected Data-Driven Coaching (β = 0.571; p < 0.001), as did technology adaptability (β = 0.381; p = 0.001). Coach competency (β = 0.468; p < 0.001), technology adaptability (β = 0.230; p = 0.009), and Data-Driven Coaching (β = 0.312; p = 0.017) also showed positive and significant effects on coach performance. Interpretation is limited because coach performance is conceptually close to Data-Driven Coaching and several of its indicators contain data-based coaching elements. The sample size of 50 also limits statistical power for detecting smaller effects. Accordingly, the findings concerning coach performance are limited to the operational scope represented by the measurement indicators and should not be generalized as evidence of coach performance in a broad sense.
