Abstract

The phenomenon studied was to explore the character of the mother in the film Budi Pekerti using Communication Psychology theory. This research uses an audience perspective which aims to see the mother character. A qualitative descriptive approach is used in this writing. The object of this research uses observation techniques by observing theory by observing the formation of the character of the mother figure. The data collection techniques used were interviews and journal information from the internet. The researcher chose this technique because it requires a broad explanation of the audience's attitude towards the mother character in the film Budi Pekerti who is depicted as a figure full of affection for her children. However, the depiction of a strong mother figure does various things to provide for her family and provide encouragement for her children. Through operational concepts in the figure of the mother using the concept of Family Communication in the film Budi Pekerti, there are indicators using Intrapersonal Communication and Interpersonal Communication. Then the superstructure or schematic of this film is in the form of a plot that packages the mother's conflict in the film neatly arranged. Meanwhile, the structure of the mother character in this film has three categories, namely Caregiver, Educator, Role Model and Lesson Giver. This research is included in qualitative descriptive research. After carrying out this analysis process, it can also be used as a step to find the message contained in the Budi Pekerti film. So the results obtained are in identifying the audience's attitude towards the mother character in interpersonal and intrapersonal terms in the film Budi Pekerti.
