Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of secondary social media accounts in the context of communication corruption. The primary focus of this research is to identify and understand how social media users utilize secondary accounts to convey messages, use media, and build contexts that differ from their primary accounts. The study also explores the motives behind the use of secondary accounts and how it creates discrepancies between the projected identity and the actual identity. The research method employed is a case study with a qualitative approach. The findings indicate that users of secondary accounts often manipulate messages and strategically use media to achieve personal goals that are not always aligned with the image they construct on their primary accounts. Forms of communication corruption identified include message distortion, media misuse, and manipulation of communication context. This study provides insights into the dynamics of communication corruption in the use of secondary social media accounts and is expected to serve as a foundation for further research on this phenomenon in other digital contexts.
