Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership style and corporate culture on company performance, with work engagement as an intervening variable. The research object consists of employees of TV One, a subsidiary of PT Lativi Media Karya under the Bakrie Group. This study adopts a quantitative approach using a survey method by distributing questionnaires to respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) technique. The results indicate that transformational leadership style has a positive and significant relationship with company performance. Leaders who can inspire, provide a clear vision, and empower employees contribute to improving organizational effectiveness and employee productivity. Meanwhile, corporate culture shows a negative impact on company performance. This finding suggests that a rigid culture or one with high expectations without adequate support can lead to excessive work pressure and reduced employee productivity. Interview results also reveal that a culture that overly emphasizes rules and procedures can hinder creativity and innovation, thereby decreasing employee motivation. On the other hand, work engagement has a positive and significant effect on company performance. Employees with emotional attachment and high motivation toward their work tend to be more productive. Although transformational leadership does not directly enhance engagement, this study highlights the importance of a supportive work environment and organizational policies that prioritize employee well-being. This research provides implications for companies in optimizing leadership strategies and developing a more flexible and adaptive organizational culture to enhance employee engagement and performance sustainably.
