Abstract
Fraud in online C2C transactions outside official marketplaces causes losses for one party. Escrow systems run by forum admins or social media community moderators risk transparency, since the manager may hold interests tied to one of the transacting parties. Rising transaction volume demands concurrency management to prevent race conditions, data update conflicts, and inconsistent transaction status. This research develops an Android-based escrow application operating as an independent platform, focusing on implementing and testing concurrency management on the server and database sides. The method includes a literature review, requirements analysis, and UML-based system design: a use case diagram for buyer, seller, and admin interactions from payment through dispute resolution; a class diagram for the layered backend structure (controller, service, repository, entity); and an ERD for the database schema covering users, transactions, arbitration, and notifications. Implementation follows Agile Solo Development, with concurrency testing through simulated simultaneous transactions using test data. Development is limited to technology validation at Technology Readiness Level 4, testing the server side without real user transaction data. The application was developed with a secure, transparent escrow mechanism. Pessimistic locking proved effective at preventing race conditions and maintaining data consistency under simultaneous transaction simulations, meeting both research objectives.
