Abstract

Special events do not merely serve ceremonial purposes but can also function as strategic communication tools for organizations to build relationships with their publics while representing organizational identity and credibility. The World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2024 was selected as the research object due to its characteristics as an international-scale public relations forum that brought together various stakeholders from the global public relations community. For the Indonesian Public Relations Association (Perhumas), the organization of WPRF 2024 served not only as a platform for knowledge and idea exchange but also as an institutional showcase to demonstrate the organization’s capabilities, professionalism, and credibility to the international public relations community as part of its efforts to maintain its reputation. This study aims to analyze the organization of WPRF 2024 by Perhumas based on Joe Goldblatt’s Event Planning Five Phase Process theory. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with eight purposively selected informants, consisting of organizers and strategic partners, national and global public relations practitioners, academics, and WPRF 2024 participants, supported by documentation and triangulation. The findings indicate that the organization of WPRF 2024 implemented Goldblatt’s five phases—research, design, planning, coordination, and evaluation—in an integrated and adaptive manner. The event successfully attracted 1,468 participants from 22 countries and generated extensive digital reach. The study also identified challenges regarding the relevance of some materials to certain participants, as well as clarity in coordination and role distribution
