Abstract

The existence of the mining industry PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (PT. KPC) has a significant impact on the socio-economic conditions of local communities in East Kutai Regency. This study aims to determine the impact of coal mining on the socio-economic conditions of local communities in East Kutai Regency and to identify the influence of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program on the social conditions of the Sangatta Utara sub-district community carried out by PT. KPC. In general, by following the principles of CSR, companies try to achieve two main goals, namely being socially responsible and creating a good image in the community to gain higher profits. The important point is to decide which CSR programs have a strong influence on the social conditions of the community in order to develop strong relationships with them and build more effective and efficient CSR programs. Thus, the application of existing methods will be able to help companies understand which CSR programs should be developed in order to improve their image in the external environment. Quantitative evaluation of the influence of CSR programs on the social conditions of the community is a fairly complicated task. Therefore, a special method is needed that combines expert judgment with quantitative evaluation. This study uses the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The results of the application of this method provide an overall estimate of the influence of CSR programs on the social conditions of the community in the North Sangatta District. This allows us to decide which CSR programs will have a better impact. To perform the calculations, the researcher used the Expert Choice 11 computing device.
