Abstract

The development of social media has made it easier for individuals to obtain information about various activities and experiences shared by others, including Pilates. This condition may be related to the emergence of Fear of Missing Out(FOMO), which refers to the concern of feeling left behind from experiences or activities that other people are taking part in. From a consumer behavior perspective, information, social experiences, trends, and lifestyle can become part of the environment individuals encounter when recognizing and choosing an activity. This study aims to provide a description of FOMO behavior and the decision to participate in Pilates among participants at Yoona Pilates Studio Bekasi. This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving 250 respondents who had participated or were currently participating in Pilates at Yoona Pilates Studio Bekasi. FOMO was measured through the dimensions of competence, autonomy, and relatedness, while the decision to participate in Pilates was examined through intention, attitude, and behavior. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the respondents’ tendencies across each dimension. Cross-tabulation and the Pearson Chi-Square test were then used as supporting analyses to examine the distribution patterns and statistical association between the two variables. The findings show that FOMO among the respondents was categorized as high. The decision to participate in Pilates was also categorized as high, reflected in the respondents’ intention, positive attitude, and actual participation in Pilates. The cross-tabulation results indicate a distribution pattern between FOMO and the decision to participate in Pilates. The Pearson Chi-Square test also indicates a statistically significant association between the two variables. These findings describe the respondents’ conditions within the context of consumer behavior and are not intended to establish a causal relationship.
