Abstract
This study examines the representation of human values in the film Home Sweet Loan through Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. The film depicts the struggle of a woman, Kaluna, who strives to fulfill her dream of owning her own house, yet faces the economic pressures of her family. The study aims to uncover how human values such as truth, peace, love, virtue, and non-violence are represented in the film. Using a semiotic analysis method that involves denotation, connotation, and myth, this study finds that each scene in the film conveys deep moral messages about family responsibility, sacrifice, and the importance of peace in resolving conflicts. The findings show that, despite facing significant challenges, Kaluna's character demonstrates perseverance, honesty, and selfless love, reflecting human values that can be applied in everyday life. Furthermore, the film also portrays social inequalities within the family, a common phenomenon in Indonesian culture, where the youngest child often has to sacrifice personal dreams for the sake of the family.
