Abstract
This study aims to analyze the interpretation of messages contained in the lyrics of the song "Non Euforia" by the band Kelana, using Roland Barthes' semiotic method. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, the research focuses on the three main aspects of semiotics, namely denotation, connotation, and myth, to understand how the lyrics reflect feelings of loneliness and mental health issues that arose during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data was collected through an in-depth analysis of the lyrics and interviews with music listeners who were emotionally affected by the pandemic. The results reveal that the lyrics of "Non Euforia" effectively depict the sense of alienation, uncertainty, and anxiety experienced by many individuals during the pandemic. The in-depth analysis of denotative, connotative, and mythological elements in the lyrics highlights how the conveyed social and emotional messages contribute to exacerbating mental health conditions, particularly due to prolonged social restrictions and isolation. Furthermore, this research emphasizes how music can be utilized as a powerful communication tool in addressing crucial mental health issues during global crises. It is essential for musicians to continue voicing these issues through their art as a form of support to society. The suggestions include raising awareness about the importance of mental health and increasing interventions to alleviate the psychological impacts brought on by the pandemic.
