Abstract

Generasi Z yang hidup di era digital cenderung bergantung pada WhatsApp untuk membangun dan mempertahankan hubungan, termasuk LDR. Fitur seperti centang biru, last seen, dan status online sering memicu disonansi kognitif ketidaknyamanan psikologis akibat perbedaan ekspektasi dan realitas komunikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan wawancara mendalam pada informan berusia 18–27 tahun yang pernah menjalani LDR, dianalisis melalui thematic analysis dan teori disonansi kognitif Festinger. Hasil menunjukkan fitur WhatsApp dapat memicu kecemasan, rasa curiga, dan overthinking, namun dapat dikelola melalui komunikasi terbuka, afirmasi emosional, dan media audiovisual. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya literasi emosional digital dan pengelolaan ekspektasi dalam menjaga hubungan di era virtual.
