Abstract
This study aims to analyze the practice of using the Strava digital sports application as part of a healthy lifestyle through the Appsnography approach. By examining five dimensions—Techno-Physical, Techno-Sociocultural, Techno Discursive, Techno-Communicative, and Techno-Mediality—this research explores how Strava functions not only as a physical activity tracker but also as a platform for constructing digital identity, social communities, and fitness narratives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with active users and supporting participants, as well as digital and field observations. The findings show that Strava seamlessly integrates the body, devices, and data, facilitating physical motivation through gamification features and intuitive data visualization. In addition, Strava establishes social norms and usage rituals that strengthen the identity of the running community, while creating unique language and narratives that enhance social cohesion. Supportive communication patterns and cross platform interactions expand the social reach and impact of the application. This study concludes that Strava serves as a holistic medium that combines technical, social, and cultural aspects in supporting a healthy lifestyle in the digital era. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the relationship between digital technology and modern fitness practices, as well as the implications for developing more inclusive and sustainable sports applications.
