Abstract

This study aims to understand the meaning of padel among members of the Padel Versity Community, amid the rapid growth of padel in Indonesia involving communities, events, and various brands. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation with three informants, along with source triangulation involving Coach Pedro. The analysis draws on the concepts of community, social interaction, and Plummer’s lifestyle theory (activities, interests, opinions). The findings show that Padel Versity Community serves as a space for building a sense of belonging through shared interests, interaction, and joint activities among members. Furthermore, padel has developed into part of social routines and brand consumption practices, ranging from gathering activities to participation in events. However, based on the triangulator’s assessment, this practice remains at the stage of a hobby carried out routinely and imbued with social meaning, not yet fully constituting an established lifestyle.
